Tricks for Using Orange and Black in the Kitchen

One of my favorite looks at KBIS earlier this year was all of the amazing matte black fixtures and sinks on display. It’s a chic way to introduce a little drama. Designers who dare to take on bold color in the kitchen like orange or black (today’s holiday colors!), are discovering that it’s the perfect trick to counter the all-white trend that’s been around for so long!

Of course these attention-getting hues don’t have to be splashed across the walls to make a big statement. I love the cheeky look of this Bertazzoni range with its orange door fronts!

This inky-black AGA refrigerator is one of my favorite black appliances! The matte finish gives it a sophisticated dimension.

SMEG has occupied the color wheel more than most companies for its line of appliances. The retro shape just lends itself to a bold color like orange!

But for the biggest treat in a colorful kitchen – and the most daring – you could use both of these bold Halloween hues! Would you dare?! The gorgeous design of the DH Gate faucet is the perfect foil for the straight lines in the black tile.

Do you think you could convince a client to take a walk on the wild-color side?! Let me know in the comments!

XOXO,

Kathleen
