Making the Most of the 4th Quarter
I don't know about you, but it feels like this year is flying by, more than ever before. It's already September, and we're very close to finishing up the third quarter. With a packed fall calendar and the holidays, it can feel like we've run out of time to make a significant impact on our businesses this year. But that is absolutely NOT true! The fourth quarter gives us three full months to focus on our 2022 goals, and we should make the most of that. Try these 4 tips to finish the year STRONG!
1. Review First
Sit down with your financials and your goal plan for 2022 and review. How has your business performed so far? What is your overall profit margin? How are you doing on the goals you set. After the review, you may decide that you're doing fantastically and you can move your focus to 2023 (YAY for you!). But some of you may want to bring in more revenue. Or you may want to push hard on a specific goal that you still want to hit. Looking at what you've done so far this year and where your business is right now will help you decide what you need to do in October, November, and December.
2. Set Micro Goals
This is the time to set small goals - ones that are easy to achieve or that will lead to a larger goal. It may be that you want to be sure you have one more major client to lead you into 2023. Or you may want to take off two weeks in December for the holidays. You may even decide that you want to promote a smaller service to bring in more cash. Set micro goals that will give you a strong sense of accomplishment and that will help you make 2022 a great year!
3. Focus on Low-Hanging Fruit
I'm sure you've heard this saying before, but what does that mean in our business?? It means you should reach out to people who are already your fans - former clients! If you haven't checked in with them in a while, this is the perfect chance to do that. Email them and ask how they're doing and remind them that you love referrals. Drop a gift off at their house for Thanksgiving so you can tell them "thank you for being an amazing client" while also asking for a referral. You never know what you'll learn when you reach out - that former client may be moving into a new home, or may be buying a second home. Always keep in touch with those former fans!
4. Look Forward
And of course we all need to start thinking about 2023. What new goals do you want to set? Are there new services or products you want to offer? And what does 2023 look like from a business standpoint? We may need to adjust our expectations or think about ways to tighten up our business practices, depending on the outlook for next year. It's always a good idea to keep your eye on the future and to think about different paths we could take.
